Cala Galdana by boat: best reached by sea from Ciutadella
Cala Galdana is one of the most famous beaches in southern Menorca: an arc of fine sand framed by cliffs and pine trees. We don't have a rental base on the beach itself; we depart from the Port of Ciutadella and, after 50-65 minutes sailing along the coast, you reach the Galdana area with a huge bonus: on the way you pass Macarella and Macarelleta, its most spectacular neighbours, only comfortably reachable by sea.
With a licence-free boat you can anchor off Galdana, swim at Macarella before the crowds arrive and cruise back along the west coast. It's the way to see in one day what would take hours of hiking on foot. We explain the full route in the briefing before you set off.

Can I rent a boat at Cala Galdana itself?▾
Our rental base is in the Port of Ciutadella, not on Galdana beach. From Ciutadella you sail to the Cala Galdana, Macarella and Macarelleta area in about 50-65 minutes, with the bonus of cruising the whole west coast on the way.
How long does it take to reach Cala Galdana by boat from Ciutadella?▾
Between 50 and 65 minutes at cruising speed, depending on the sea. Macarella and Macarelleta sit just before it, so many clients stop there first and continue to Galdana afterwards.
Do I need a licence to reach Cala Galdana by boat?▾
No. Following the west-coast route from Ciutadella it stays within the range allowed for licence-free boats. Before departure we give you a 10-15 minute safety briefing with the route explained.
How much does it cost to rent a boat to Cala Galdana?▾
Half day from €150 (spring) and from €200 (summer). Full day from €275 (spring) and €325 (summer), per whole boat. To reach Galdana at a relaxed pace we recommend the full day. Fuel and insurance included.
